Clarence Seedorf has been appointed as Cameroon manager

Clarence Seedorf has been named Cameroon coach, replacing Hugo Broos, after a deal to hire Sven-Goran Eriksson fell through.

Ex AC Milan player and a manager will have Barcelona and Holland legend Patrick Kluivert by his side as his assistant manager.

It’s still unknown how long Seedorf’s contract with the Cameroon national team might be, however it will be announced later this month.

The Dutchman has coached AC Milan, Deportivo La Coruña and Chinese club Shenzhen to date, but failed to last more than six months at any post. He will be hoping international management is best suited to his skill set as a coach.

As we saw from Gareth Southgate’s success with England, for some managers, international football is a better fit for some coaches.

Seedorf will have a year to work with his Cameroon squad before they host the African Cup of Nations next summer after the tournament was moved from January to the European off-season
